Dr. Sulaiman Mirdad

Deputy Governor – CITC

Dr. Sulaiman Mirdad is Deputy Governor for Information Technology at the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), Saudi Arabia. Prior to Joining CITC, Dr. Mirdad was VP for Technology at the Advanced Arabian Systems (Naseej), and Cofounder and Principal Engineer at InfoLibria, a provider of Internet solutions for Content Distribution and Delivery products. With more than 20 years of experience in the field of IT, Dr. Mirdad coauthored a number of worldwide patents, while working at InfoLibria, in the subject of Content Distribution and Delivery. For these achievements, Dr. Mirdad was granted the King Abdulaziz Order of Merit (First Degree) in 2008 by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz. Dr. Mirdad patented research was one of the first to propose the integration of application and communications layers (known today as Layered Switching), and the integration of routing and caching (transparency between networks and applications). He was the first to introduce the concept of Transparent Proxies. Dr. Mirdad has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Boston University, an M.S. in Computer Science from The American University at Washington D.C., and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from King Fahad University of Petroleum & Minerals. Dr. Mirdad is currently heading the National ICT Advisory Council in Saudi Arabia, and is a member of the National eTransactions Steering Committee.

Mr. Ahmed Al-Fifi

Managing Director - SAP Saudi Arabia

Ahmed AlFaifi is leading the SAP Saudi Arabia as the Managing Director of SAP Software Trading company and the chairman of SAP Services company. Prior to SAP role, Ahmed worked for Zain Mobile Operator as Chief Operating Officer leading and supervising the commercial and technical operations in the country of Saudi Arabia. Prior to the COO role, Ahmed has taken the position of Chief Technology Officer leading and supervising the network and IT areas and Chief Strategy and Planing Officer leading and supervising the company strategy and business planing. Ahmed worked also for CITC, Ericsson and MoD in different positions. Ahmed was graduated from KSU Engineering college in year 1996 and has completed his master degree of science from KAU in year 2001, Ahmed has as well Mobile techniques Diploma from Ericsson and attended number of business, finance, and leadership courses in number of business schools.

Dr. Furaih F. Al-Shaalan

Dr. Furaih Al-Shaalan is the General Manager of the Research and Development (R&D) Department at the Saudi Telecom Company (STC). He has over 20 years of experience in telecommunications industry, with focus on mobile network and fixed network technologies. Dr. Alshaalan’s work focuses on the introduction of the latest innovative technologies and solutions, for both mobile and fixed networks, that would ensure the highest level of network efficiency and flexibility as well as the highest level of customers' experience. Examples of Dr. Alshaalan’s current work include: the Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), LTE advanced technologies, Hybrid Millimeter Wave (MMW)and Optics, and new access technologies such as xG.Fast technology.

Eng. Wael Al-Ghamdi

Wael heads Strategic Planning & Marketing function in MOBILY for business sector. In his current role Wael is leading MOBILY’s transformation to become a key ICT player within KSA. Prior to this, Wael led the commercial launch of eLife, Mobily FTTH and IPTV products. Wael has very strong technical and architecture credentials focused on Fixed and Mobile technologies. Earlier during his career with MOBILY, He worked in building 4G-TDD network, All-IP carrier class next generation networks and IP data services platforms.

Eng. Rakan Tarabzoni is the head of Windows OS & Devices in Microsoft Arabia for almost four years. Rakan is a marketer & business developer by profession, an entrepreneur by heart and an Engineer by education. He started his career with Procter & Gamble with the brand management department, then moving along to Rabea Tea & NCB, also within marketing & brand management. He then established a marketing & branding agency, specialized in the Real Estate industry, venturing at the same time in many small entrepreneurial projects, some of which are still operation today. Today, within his role in Microsoft, Rakan is one of the key individuals leading the mobility transformation with Microsoft customers.

Eng. Bader Azzouqa

Sr. Pre-Sales Consultant – FireEye

Bader has over 11 years of experience in different areas of IT and Information Security, including network design and security, penetration testing, compliance consulting services, wireless network design and security, and Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR). He is an expert in Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) design, analysis and security, and particularly in the areas of intrusion detection and prevention. He currently works in FireEye, a leader in providing Cyber Security solutions and services, as a Sr. Pre-Sales consultant. Before joining FireEye, Bader managed the operations and business development of both the Digital Forensics practice and Managed Security Services (MSS) at IT Security Training and Solutions – I(TS)2, a Saudi-based IT security solutions and MSS provider. Before I(TS)2 he worked at Motorola AirDefense Solutions in the USA where he led projects for researching, testing and validation, and automation of core Wireless Intrusion Prevention Systems functions. Among other previous roles, he worked as an information security consultant, technical trainer, and IS project manager. AlSoma has participated in several committees, projects, and consulting studies among which, member of the e-Government Steering Committee, managed developing the e-Government national Strategy and Action Plan project, member of the Ministerial Committee Directorate for organizational reform studies taskforce, member of the National IT Plan project, participated in developing some IT-related regulations through the Expert Bureau Committees, and contributed in several IT and management consultation studies for many governmental and private sector entities.

Mr. Muhammad Albakri

CFO & CIO – Saudi Arabian Airlines

Mr. Muhammad Ali Albakri is the Executive Vice President for Finance and Vice President for Information Technology at Saudi Arabian Airlines, where he has worked for the past 25 years. In his role as the CIO, Mr. Albakri is mandated with leading the Saudia IT organization in its role of being the sole service provider of IT services and solutions for all the divested Business Units under SAUDIA HOLDING. Mr. Albakri is heading a strategic initiative – code name Sinnovate- on a national level through which Saudia is currently pursuing establishment of a “Smart Technology Hub” at King Abdullah Economic City on the West Coast of the Kingdom. KAEC where a Technology Innovation Nucleus, a joint software development center with world leading software development companies and a Tier-3+ cloud based data center are planned to be established to continue serving Saudi Airlines as well as to extend solutions and services beyond the boundaries of the Saudia. Upon completion of this initiative, the technology hub will be the largest and most advanced cloud based center offering Saas, IaaS & PaaS for the Ailines Group as well external clients.
